School board seats in several area school districts will be up for a vote in the November election.

Three seats will be available at Willcox School District; two in Bowie; three in San Simon and two in Cochise School District.

The deadline for petition signatures is Wednesday. Aug. 4, and packets need to be returned to the Office of the Cochise County Schools Superintendent, at 100 Clawson Avenue in Bisbee, or mailed to: Trudy Berry, P.O. Drawer 208, Bisbee, AZ 85603 .

Nikki Madden, secretary to Berry, said school board seats up for election Nov. 2 are:

  • Willcox: Jan Kortsen, David Collins and Debra Ellis

  • San Simon: Ronald Power, Monica Bidegain and Ruby Sipes

  • Cochise: Frank Flanders and Kristine Carper

  • Bowie: Ernie Blandin and Estevan Carmona

As of Thursday, no one has turned in packets with petition signatures to the county superintendent's office, she said.

Also in the Nov. 2 election, Willcox School District will hold an election for budget override. An "Information Pamphlet" publication is mandated by Arizona law and school districts are mandated to distribute this pamphlet to all households within a school district.

Any person wishing to submit a Pro or Con statement regarding this issue may do so by mail or hand delivery no later than Friday, Aug. 6.

Statements may not exceed 200 words and they should include whether the statement is pro or con, the author's name, address, telephone number, signature, and whether the name can be printed in the information pamphlet. Pro/Con statements will not be accepted via email.

For more information, contact the Cochise County School Superintendent's Office at 520-432-8950.
