Program features armed forces, vets
The Rex Allen Days official souvenir program will feature a centerfold display of servicemen and women and veterans from the Willcox area. This will be a special addition to the weekend surrounding the 2010 Parade Theme: "Cowboys Honor Those Who Support Our Freedom and Liberty".
There will be no charge for recognition on this program page. We need to have these submitted to Peggy Judd or Nancy Welch at Willcox Real Estate, 916 W. Rex Allen Drive or email to petaanne@vtc.net. Please call Peggy at 502 507-1735 with any questions. We have extended the deadline to July 30.
July 31 benefit Garlic Festival
Triangle T Guest Ranch and RichCrest Farms are having a Garlic Festival Saturday, July 31 to raise money for the Benson All the Kings Horses Orphanage and St. Jude's Children's Research Center at Triangle T in Dragoon from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Get a sponsor and ride your horse or ours, Garlic Cooking Contest, Guest Chiefs cooking demos. Local vendors.
Music by local groups all day. Wine tasting and shoot out at 5 p.m. to end celebration. Auctions, raffle prizes special foods and lots of fun.

Democrats meet at TA Saturday
The monthly meeting of the Northern Cochise County Democrats will be held at 10 am on Saturday, July 24 at the TA Travel Center in Willcox.
The guest speaker will be Denise Lundin, Clerk of the Superior Court, who will share the goals of her campaign for re-election to the position she has held for so many years in Bisbee. The group will discuss efforts to get out the vote for the upcoming Primary Election on Aug. 24.
Area residents are welcome and encouraged to attend this informational meeting.

All are invited to a Meet and Greet with Congressional Candidate, Brian Miller, and his special guest, Sheriff Richard Mack on Tuesday, July 27. They will be at Walker Family Medicine, 801 W Rex Allen Dr. in Willcox from 6:30-8 p.m.
Sheriff Mack was the Sheriff of Graham County, who stood up and successfully challenged the unconstitutional Brady Bill in the Supreme Court. He is also the author of "The County Sheriff: America's Last Hope". We are so happy to have him join us at two different Meet and Greets in Willcox and Sierra Vista later this month. I hope you will join us.

'Pack to School' supplies campaign
The Arizona Department of Corrections has been an active supporter of the Pack to School Campaign since 2003. This campaign supports local schools in Graham County and the Willcox area of Cochise County participating in the free lunch program.
In order to attain our campaign goal, we are asking businesses to assist us with a donation towards this worthy effort. All money raised or school essentials donated will be utilized for this worthy endeavor. If you are considering donating school essentials from the list below, watch for the school bus drop-off at Wal-Mart in Safford on July 24-25. Mail your monetary donations payable to Employee Fund/Pack to School at: ASPC Safford Pack to School Coordinator, 896 South Cook Road Safford, AZ 85546.

Items needed include: #2 pencils, backpacks, scissors (blunt), pencil sharpeners, children's books, markers, crayons, erasers, glue sticks, rulers, copy paper, spiral notebooks, hand sanitizer, tissue, paints (washable), dictionaries, thesaurus, 3-ring binders, calculators, and activity books.
Area schools benefiting include Willcox Middle School, Willcox Elementary School and Bonita School.
Cowboy Camp begins Thursday
The Chiricahua Ranchmen's Association is holding it's 65th annual Cowboy Camp for Christian fellowship July 22 - 25. The meeting will be held at Highway 181 and Rock Creek Lane.

WHS Band Camp starts today
The Willcox High School Band Camp will be held July 21-23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
All band students in grades 7-12 that will be marching are strongly encouraged to attend.
Any girls that wish to join our color guard are welcome to attend.
During the camp, we will work on music for the pep band and half time show. In addition to the music, students will learn basic marching skills needed to play while marching.
Students will break noon to 1 p.m. for lunch. Lunch is not provided.
Students will need to pack lunch or be prepared to leave and come back. Middle school students will need a note from a parent to leave with another student.
Students may wear shorts and shirts appropriate according to school PE dress code. Students wear shoes with backs. Bring a water bottle, hat and sunglasses.
Return employer survey by Aug. 2
The Cochise College Center for Economic Research is currently conducting its annual Top 75 Employer survey. The purpose of the survey is to identify the county's top employers, based on the number of employees. The results are published in a special section of the Herald/Review, and by the CER in its annual publications and quarterly newsletter.
Employers are encouraged to complete this survey and return it to the CER no later than Aug. 2 to be recognized for their contribution to jobs in Cochise County. If your business or organization has more than 40 employees, and has not yet received a survey for this year, please contact the CER, and a copy will be sent to you. Apply for leadership program by Aug. 10
Willcox Young Guns is a leadership program for teens and adults in Willcox. Applications for the Young Guns program are now available at the office of the Willcox Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, 1500 N. Circle I road, or on its website, www.willcoxchamber.com. The deadline for Class V, which begins Fall 2010, is Aug. 10.

Call to artists for western show
Stage West: Old and New Visions of the American West" at City Hall Gallery in Benson. Show dates are from Aug. 22 - Oct. 30, 2010. This is a juried show with a western theme. Framed (wire and screw eyes only, no brackets please), ready to hang, paintings, drawings, photography or mixed media will be accepted.
Please send jpg images and include your name, the title of the piece, the medium, the dimensions and the price to Sylvia@sprarts.org. Each artist may submit as many as four pieces, and they must not have previously been exhibited at the City Hall Gallery. There are no fees associated with this show, and there are no prizes, but exhibitors must be members of the San Pedro River Arts Council (see the website at www.sprarts.org or send an email to sylvia@sprarts.org).
Last date to submit work is Aug. 18. Accepted work must be delivered to the City Hall Gallery at 120 W. 6th St., Benson, Ariz., on Saturday, Aug. 21, from 1-4 p.m.
