As part of Old Pearce Heritage Days, the Old Pearce Mercantile, built by the Soto Brothers in 1896, will be opened to the public free of charge November 27 and 28 from 9am to 5pm.
Walking through the front door is a step back in time. Antiques from the area and the era of Pearce's heyday line shelves which previously held provisions, hardware and 'you name it,' items critical in supplying early Pearce miners, prospectors and settlers, those in town to make their fortunes or just to make their homes.
The Old Pearce Mercantile is one of the oldest buildings in town. The two-storey adobe structure was built to last, constructed as it was with cedar and redwood beams. A cast metal facade was added to the front of the building by then owner, Charles Renaud. In 1978 this impressive structure was added to the National Register of Historic Buildings
Being able to peruse this unique landmark and its vast collection of antiques is a once a year opportunity you don't want to miss.
Also in town for Old Pearce Heritage Days will be Power From the Past with their antique tractors and generators. The Trashy Women of Cochise County will be dancing Saturday at 11:30. And for those searching for one-of-a-kind holiday gifts a variety of vendors will be offering their wares both in the Mercantile's courtyard and inside the store. Food will be available from the Cowboy Grill. Coffee, hot chocolate and pastries will be served out of the Mercantile…ús kitchen. There will be porta-potties.
