Advent Brunch Dec. 5 at TLC

At this time of year often we women are overwhelmed by the preparations for the season that include gift purchase, holiday baking, festive cooking, children's programs, and extra parties in addition to the commitments of a regular routine. We tend to lose ourselves in busyness while the spiritual reason for Christmas becomes dim or lost. Advent, the month before Christmas, is set aside for getting ready and waiting for the Christ child.

Trinity Lutheran Church invites the women of Willcox to participate in a time of peace and inspiration prior to the hectic Christmas season. Join us for food, fellowship, singing and an inspiring speaker. There is no charge but reservations are required. Please call the church at 384-2155 and leave your name to reserve your special place. This event is funded by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

The Advent Brunch will be held Saturday, Dec. 5 at 10 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church 111 North Bisbee Ave. Speaker Pastor Kim Sterner will speak on "How Long Must We Wait, O Lord?"

Pastor Kim is Pastor of Bethel Lutheran in Phoenix. She has a special heart for the country of Haiti and with her congregation raises money to purchase pigs. She will share her experiences with us in the context of an Advent meditation. We are taking a free will offering to support her ministry in Haiti.

Donate for TLC food collection

SacFood collection: As the economic worries of our country deepen, more people in our community have lost jobs and homes. Trinity Lutheran is collecting non-perishable foods to help the hungry in our community. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will match this community collection with additional funds.

Food is being collected in several locations in the community. The food will be distributed through the Willcox Food Pantry. You may also donate checks made out to the Willcox Food Pantry. No donated funds are used in administrative costs. The Pantry uses all funds for food for the needy. Please look for collection boxes in several locations in town and please donate your extra.
